Re: Why I Like It Longer Contest

Hi folks, perhaps you still remember I wrote a post regarding 'why I like it longer' for an advertiser contest early of last month. I found out it was a lame post as I re-read it today. It is not creative and interesting enough. Well, what I can say is I will try better and harder the next time.

Of course, the contest has ended and the 3 winners were announced. Are you interested to know what these 3 winners wrote and why they managed to walk away with a brand new LG Chocolate BL40 worth RM2,199?

Okay, the official 3 LG Chocolate winners are as below:

In fact, I have personally review each of them, I believe they are creative by spending effort and time to create self-photos to make the content more interesting and creative. In contrast, I only use my words to express my idea. That would be a huge discount without using self-made pictures. Perhaps I should look into this?

Of course no! I better look into LG Chocolate BL40 instead, or at least the model in the picture. ;)

The World's Richest Men

Forbes just released the 2010 Forbes list of the World's Billionaires 2 days ago. Surprisingly, there are some changes on the position of the top 20 richest man in the world.

For the third time in three years, the world has emerged a new richest man, he is a Mexican tycoon, Carlos Slim Helu. Basically he managed to accumulate his wealth up to US$53.5 billions with the surging prices of his multiple telecom companies. Seems like telecom business is better than Information technology and investment business for the time being huh!

Carlos, at his 70 managed to beat Americans Bill Gates and my favorite man, Warren Buffet to become the richest man on earth, by gaining US$18.5 billions in 12 months on top of his existing wealth. America Movil, one of his holdings, were up 35% within a year, which assist him to go up so promptly. Imaging if Warren bought some of his company shares, will Warren be the richest man in the world then?

The youngest billionaire has something to say?

The only Asian in the top 10, Mukesh Ambani at his age of 52, is successfully accumulated wealth of US$29 billions in oil & gas industry and ranking at top 4. By the way, he is the youngest man in the top 10 list, what a proud for Asian!

The only Chinese in the top 20 list, Li Ka-Shing from Hong Kong dropped his rank to top 14, with the net worth of US$21 billions. He is 2 years old elder than Warren.

Many people predicting, there will be a man from China to be ranked at top 20 in the next couple of years. Is it true?

Dato' vs Datuk

You must have hear a lot about 'Dato'' and 'Datuk' title around Malaysia. Let me list a few famous celebrities for your reference.

Dato'
Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Hj Abdul Razak (Existing Malaysia Prime Minister)
Dato' Michelle Yeoh Choo-Khen (International actress, a Malaysian)

Datuk
Datuk Lee Chung Wei (World No. 1 badminton player, a Malaysian)
Datul Nicole Ann David (World No. 1 Squash player, a Malaysian)

'Datuk' in Malay actually stands for 'grandpa'.
So when you are older, you can upgrade to be a 'Datuk' too!

Do you know what is the difference between both awarded titles? From wikipedia, Dato' is conferred by hereditary Royal ruler, which are Sultans in Malaysia, such as from Johor, Pahang, Perak, etc. Where Datuk is awarded by Yang Di Pertuan Agong, or a state ruler without a Sultan, like Penang, Malacca, Sabah and Sarawak. Both titles also can be awarded to foreigners.

So it sounds like the same from the information above. What if your company invited an VVIP and the MC mistakenly announced his name from 'Dato'' becomes 'Datuk'? Will it becomes a big deal?

Okay, my fault, what a boring day to learn about award title.
